After Care Program
Serving Mohawk Trail Regional School District students in grades 3-6.
Message from the Program Director
Welcome to our after school program!
My name is Alia Woofenden, but everyone calls me “Mrs. Woof.” I have been working with children for the past 10 years for a number of nonprofits and public schools helping to create safe and fun outdoor programs for all ages. I am a parent, a certified elementary school teacher, and environmental educator.
I look forward to providing our community with fun and educational after school opportunities for Mohawk Trail Regional School District students!
MTRSD After Care Philosophy & Goals
We understand families need a reliable and safe after school program. At Mohawk Trail Regional School District (MTRSD) after care program, we believe children benefit from socializing with their peers in a structured after school program. Our program encourages leadership skills, community building, and individual growth.
While much of the programming is structured activities, children are also given opportunities to choose their activity and are allowed time to socialize and play with their peers. Being active outside is an important part of our programming.
Our goal is to provide fun, educational, and developmentally appropriate programming for Mohawk Trail Regional School District students at an affordable price.
The MTRSD after care program is open to all students in the district currently enrolled in grades 3-6. Transportation is provided daily from district elementary schools to the program site at Mohawk Trail Regional School at no cost to our families. Program pick-up is 5:30 p.m. at Mohawk Trail Regional School.
To enroll, parents/guardians must fill out an enrollment form and transportation consent form before a child can attend the program.
*MTRSD after care is not open during school vacations, snow days, or early release days due to inclement weather.
I need last minute care. Can my child attend?
Yes! The MTRSD after care program is available for last minute drop-ins. However, a parent/guardian must get prior approval from the program director and fill out the appropriate paperwork before drop-off. Any changes to a participant’s attendance must be made before 2:00 p.m. We highly recommend filling out these forms even if you don’t plan to regularly attend. That way if you have an emergency need for care, your forms will be complete.
Enrichment programming will be offered during part of the school year. After care participants can participate in enrichment classes (for an additional cost). Please contact the program director for a list of current enrichment classes.
MTRSD After Care Staff
Along with the Program Director, the program is led by an MTRSD After Care Head Teacher and Program Assistants.
Many of our program assistants are Mohawk Trail Regional High School students who will provide homework help, problem-solving, and serve as positive role models for our participants. Mohawk Trail Regional Middle School students will have the opportunity to serve as counselors in training (CIT) to learn necessary skills to serve as future program assistants.
