Dear Families and Friends of Children in the Mohawk Trail School District,
we welcome you to our Parent Involvement Home Page and hope that it will be
a helpful resource for each of you in supporting your child's academic and
social success in our schools. If you have any suggestions or questions,

We believe that parent, family, and community participation in our local
schools is vital for student growth and achievement. In order to ensure
family participation we will actively nourish the involvement of all the
adults who touch our children's lives. Although we use the words parent
and family, they refer to any concerned adult who is advocatinf for a
student.
Our goal is to help each and every child fulfill his or her promise of
academic proficiency and social maturity. To achieve that end, the following
are our core values.
- Families, teachers, staff, and administrators will work together as respectful partners.
- Each of our schools will be welcoming place for families.
- School activities, programs, and classrooms will be open for family observation, help, and participation according to individual school guidelines.
- Teacher-parent dialogue will be encouraged through parent conferences, phone calls, and written communications.
- Provide opportunities for sharing each child's learning experiences.
- A diverse array of workshops and forums will be made available for families throughout the year to enable them to engage more fully in their child's classroom life.
- Multiple forms of communication, including newsletters, websites, calendars, emails, phone calls, and press releases, will convey information to parents about curriculum frameworks, school issues and their children's day to day activities.
- The District will foster family involvement in school policies, curriculum discussions, local education councils, parent organizations, and school committee meetings.
We ask parents to support our efforts at school by emphasizing the importance of an education, of taking studies seriously, of regular attendance, and of working hard to reach one's goals. We, in turn, will support your efforts at home as we build and strengtehn our mutual alliance of nurturing our young in preperation for a satisfying and productive life.
